Simply Stunning

...Stunning...

Second Life lingerie superstars BlackLace have teamed up with a real-life corset company for a really cool promotion: buy one of the SL collection – which mirrors a RL design – and receive a $25.00 off code to purchase a corset in RL! That’s pretty hecka cool! The partnership is with Vollers Corsets and the discounted corset can be purchased from www.abeautifulcorset.com. It looks like we have a total of six releases to look forward to: Stunning, Salacious, Dazzling, Enchanting, Ravishing, and Worship. The first and second of the series are now available – Stunning and Salacious – and they’re quite a treat!

The first thing that caught my eye about the Stunning corset was the rich interplay of lace and satin. The whole of the corset is overlaid with a large-pattern lace. I selected the crimson, though it’s also available in gold and a burnished pewter. In comparing the pictures between the Vollers corset and their corset, they really nailed the design.

What’s “Just Right”: The strength of BlackLace often lies in their use of texture. Here, lace overlays a gleaming satin, creating depth that’s visually interesting. The lace also helps to conceal a weaknesses I’ve seen from time to time in BlackLace releases, and that’s the highlighting on the bust in their garments. It can sometimes appear they’re designed for a smaller bustline, with opportunities for under-bust shading to accent the girls being missed. With Stunning, the darkness of the lace renders that issue moot. I like the way the panties mirror the back line of the corset. I also like the prim tops to the gloves. This is an area I have not seen enhanced with prim work before – on shirts, sure… but never that level of attention given to gloves. The fabric highlight and shadow work on them is already excellent, and the prim cuffs finish them off beautifully. The busk in the back, the eyelets and the lacing pattern also show a level of attention detail that I really appreciate, and is extremely well done.

What Could Use Improvement: Because BlackLace is mirroring an outfit that already exists in RL, they’re limited by the vision of someone else’s design. This puts a little bit of a restriction on creativity – I think they might have done more with the stockings and panties, if they had the freedom to do so. I would have liked to see the slightest touch of wrinkle on the undies to emphasize the high curve of the butt, or maybe a secondary panty option with more coverage.

Other things to note: Salacious was released on Saturday (Dec 4th) after I’d already purchased Stunning, and I’ll be honest – I probably would have snatched it up instead, given a choice between the two. Definitely worth checking it out on the Alphamale/BlackLace Blog or at their in-world location. It should also be noted that included in the delivery is A TEDDY BEAR!

Whatever Lola Wants…

Whatever Lola Wants...

Detail 1: Bodice Close Up

Detail 2: Panty Close Up

Detail 3: Shoe Close Up

Detail 4: General Close Up
Review updated to include Marketplace listing – Thank you, IndigoBlue, for the correction!! My bad!!

Seldom Blue makes some really stunning lingerie, and we’ve previously reviewed their Kira outfit. Lola is a more recent release, and in it, Seldom Blue split the outfit into two different offerings. This is of note because the pictures in the store are a little confusing as to which options are available in which outfit, so be careful when you purchase. “Lola” is available in Sheer White (with purple accents), Sheer Black (with pink accents), Opaque Purple (with light purple accents), Opaque Chocolate (more of a tan with chocolately accents), Sheer Nude, Opaque Red (with nude accents), Sheer Blue, and Opaque Green (with nude accents). Some of the color combinations were, to be honest, garish to my eyes — I liked the Sheer Blush (featured), Sheer Blue, Sheer Black, and Sheer Nude, but the Opaque Green was a bit scary. The Lola design is offered in a Lingerie Fatpack (700L), a Lingerie Single Pack (380L), and a Dress Pack (380L).

What’s “Just Right”: One of the strengths of Seldom Blue is the attention to small details that make the whole outfit look very finished and Lola is no different. I like the ribbon detailing that is mirrored on each piece. The femininity of the skirt is delicious and the front and rear lines of the panty are really well done. The placing of the straps on the garterbelt are also very true-to-life, and that kind of accuracy is something Seldom Blue excels at.

What Could Use Improvement: Erm. The ruffles at the bustline are both above and below the breast… and frankly, it makes them look like giant sunflowers. I would have prefered an option that was JUST above the bust and that ruffle option is available in the Dress or the Fat Pack version of Lola, but not the “Lingerie Single Pack.” 😦 I felt that Lola didn’t stand up to curves quite as well as the Kira outfit did and I can’t put my finger on specifically why.

Other things to note: The full name of the designer is “Eternity Brides and Seldom Blue” – and it’s not just bridal and lingerie there. They also create daywear, silks, body jewelry, poses, and latexwear. They do have a presence on The Marketplace, but their lingerie isn’t listed.

[Disclaimer: In the picture of me perched on the desk, I am wearing TWO copies of the skirt, one edited to lay properly over my lap.]

Hollee Moley, Batgirl!

Group Shot: Lingerie by Hollee

[This photo shoot is officially dedicated to Beebo Brink.]

I found Lingerie by Hollee while browsing on XStreet, and also had this designer mentioned to me by some folks who follow the SLingerie blog. I made myself several mental notes to talk about this designer when I was on my “Lingerie Doesn’t Have To Be Expensive” rant, too. When the idea for a great big photo shoot came up (inspired by a pose sale at Glitterati, to be honest), I knew I wanted to feature Hollee’s work. It’s very economical, looks good on a wide range of body types and has something to suit almost any personality. The girls at SLU and the Syn City sim came to my rescue and brought their friends. We even grabbed passers by and tosed them on a poseball. πŸ˜‰

The designs themselves are classic lingerie in cut and style. Garterbelts, teddies, bras, panties: all with lovely attention to detail. I love the vertical embroidery detailing on Depravity, the smooth, feminine lines on Debauchery, or the simple sexiness of Bianca. I loved the variety in the offerings, color wise. The prices are ridiculously low (Buy at the inworld shop for even more value!) for the level of quality you get.

What’s “Just Right”: Several girls at the shoot gravitated towards the Depravity and Debauchery outfits. The soft, feminine lines were flattering, and the contrast of sheerness and embroidery detailing on Depravity was the clear winner. I was impressed by the variety of layering options provided.

What Could Use Improvement: Of all of the outfits we tried on, the Burlesque held up the least well. The detailing present in the other outfits just wasn’t there on this one. Prim details like lacing or ribbons or bows would have been a lovely extra touch… but really, what you get for the Lindens is already a huge bargain.

Other things to note: If you can — shop the inworld store! Purchases there come with some extras.. πŸ™‚
