If I’m remembering right from high school French class, the name of our featured outfit translates to “Lady Tickles”… hmm… sounds awefully naughty when you put it like that! But Mme. Chatouille, by Devious Beauty, the fashion arm of Devious Minds/Chanimations, really does tickle the fancy! It’s part of their burlesque line (recently added to with their release of “Miss Dhalia“). I’ve used many of their props and poses here in the blog, but this is the first clothing piece we’ve reviewed for you. Mme. Chatouille was released in December 25th, 2009, and is described by the creator as being “Burlesque Couture and Lingerie” all in one. I agree. Of their clothing line, this one has remained my personal favorite of all of their releases. It’s also the design that Sean Gorham was most drawn to, when we popped over to take a look.

What’s “Just Right”: The level of detail and options in Mme. Chatouille is positively luxurious. There are a variety of looks one can put together – pantyhose or stockings, covered or uncovered, with skirts or without, pasties, bows, you name it. The colors offered are vibrant and intense. This is the sort of outfit that Christina A *wished* she could have worn in her recent movie… I found myself really liking both the pantyhose and the stocking options.

Brickhouse Beauty

What Could Use Improvement: The frilled collar gave us a bit of frustration, as it fell directly into/through the face in many of the poses we tried. If it had been modify, we could have saved some really gorgeous pictures, but alas. While it’s exquisite, the design also mandates a short or updo hairstyle – there’s no getting around that.

Other things to Note: Devious Beauty has a wide array of offerings on the Marketplace. They also have some of the most amazing poses and props you’ll see anywhere.

Squee!

OMG! *runs around in circles squeeing*

The last few pieces I’ve shared with you have been blog-worthy but lacked a certain level of “oomph” when it came to the texture and detail department. Well, boys and girls, prepare to have your world rocked. While chatting with Eclectic Wingtips during work on the last post, we were joined by fellow SLU’er, Eku Zhong. She provided me with a couple of suggestions about places to check out – and one of them was SLink. Now, I’m familiar with SLink for their shoes, but – for reasons completely beyond me – I had never actually looked at their clothing.. and had NO idea they made this slinky, delicious catsuit. I teleported right over to their main store, and was then wracked with indecision. The Vixen Catsuit is offered in a multitude of colors, and it was physically agonizing to pick just one. As a blogger on a budget, I simply couldn’t afford the fat pack (just shy of 3kL), but oh lordy, did I want it! I whined about this on group chat and Eku showed up to help me pick… and then very generously handed me the Lindens to get an extra color! (Thank you, Eku!)

At her prompting, I purchased the Ruby version. Right there in the store, I slithered into this tight little number with it’s plunging neckline down to there, and instantly felt like a sexy bombshell. She enthusiastically suggested I get the Black as well, and I have to say it didn’t take much prodding. I started getting some fun ideas about environment backgrounds for the shoot which I was blathering on about on group chat and Nimue Jewell mentioned that she’d been thinking about a sexy android look using the catsuit in Silver. Since this meshed perfectly with one of my ideas, I asked if she’d be willing to join me! The results are pretty spectacular if I do say so myself.

What’s “Just Right”: Without exception, I’ve never seen a better job of highlighting and shadow work on latex than this outfit. Period. End of sentence. Any time I’ve said it before.. well.. this blows it away. Every feminine curve – concave or convex – is lovingly detailed. Eku said she’d heard that the designer did the highlight and shadow work on a 3D model in a rendering program, and that sure makes a lot of sense. It’s the interplay of shadow and light that creates dimension — whether in an oil painting or Second Life clothing — and the work on the Vixen Catsuit is simply superb. The plunging neckline is tres sexy and the arching seaming line over the buttocks is feminine and enticing. That boots to match are included as part of the outfit just adds to the value.

What Could Use Improvement: There’s only two ways this could be improved: 1) The addition of a prim zipper pull – maybe with a dangle/ornament in the shape of a tiny lock to match the ones on the boots? and 2) If the lines of the garment were used to separate the outfit into its component parts (jacket/shirt/pants), instead of the layer shape. That would provide color mix and match (say, crimson legs and gloves, a black ‘leotard’.. or the white and silver intermingled) options that don’t currently exist. If it did… any latex-loving girl would have a fashiongasm.

Other things to note: As I said before, I know of SLink because of their gorgeous prim bare feet (which I wear on a regular basis on the beach at home in Carbondale) and their shoes – but they make a wide array of clothes, too! Sadly, only a few of their offerings are available on The Marketplace.

Special Thank Yous: Great big thank yous go to Eku Zhong, Nimue Jewell, and Naeve Rossini, who’s generosity and kindness made this a wonderfully fun shooting experience! Thank you, ladies!

Caught In A Web

Web Lingerie by Damage

Detail 1: Panty & Crotch Spider

Oh, what tangled webs we weave...

Detail 2: Bra Top & Nipple Spiders

At least every two or three weeks, I wander through the “Search” function of SL, looking for lingerie stores. One never really knows what you’ll find – and at Damage, I found an ecclectic mix of clothing, jewelry, and fun, pervy accessories. I got to chat a bit with the owner/designer – Dave Carmichael – and asked him directly: What was his favorite creation in the lingerie genre? He pointed me to the Web Lingerie Set and the Magic Marker teddy. Both were interesting, but the prim additions for the Web Lingerie pushed it to the forefront. (Ok, I admit it, I’m still not ready to give up on Halloween, even if it was a month ago. And I have no interest hearing about it almost being Christmas time. Bah Humbug!)

What’s “Just Right”: Unquestionably, it’s the prim work on the attachable spiders where the highest quality is found. The spiderweb bodysuit (underwear/shirt layer) is interesting and uses realistic web patterns, and I like the angular plunge of the back. The bra and panties are barely there, and you’ll definitely want a ‘smokeless’ skin to wear with them. The panty has flattering -if scanty – lines.

What Could Use Improvement: More clarity of detail on the actual clothing pieces would have been lovely. In this case, it wasn’t an issue of breast size – one of the girls from SLU, Electic Wingtips (who has a store full of very fun things, by the way: In World / The Marketplace) who is much more delicately curved than I, was kind enough to try it on for me. Even her “A” cups revealed significant pattern distortion/fuzziness – which still showed even when she modified her shape to 0. The spiders come with a built in ‘bling’ feature, and it’s my personal preference that such items be shipped ‘Bling Off’ with an option to turn it on… there aren’t instructions on how to do so in the product itself – I found out how by reading their Marketplace ad.

Other Things To Note: The store does have a presence on the SL Marketplace, but not all items in world are mirrored there. There’s a jewelry set that was made to match this outfit (which you can see in the pictures), and it is available on The Marketplace. Itsy Bitsy Tiny Prims!! To some degree, I think Mr. Charmichael missed his calling: the jewelry and prim work on the spiders and necklace was stronger than all the other clothing items I saw in the shop.

More Things To Note: My conversation with Mr. Carmichael took some odd and unexpected turns. He expressed his offense that I, as a submissive (per my profile), did not use an honorific for him when we were speaking about his fashions. I politely explained that had we met socially, my demeanor would have been different, but that when I am ‘working,’ I speak neutrally and don’t use power-exchange honorifics. The conversation went downhill from there, including fairly graphic insults regarding my (RL and SL) partner, whom he has never met. If you dig the outfit, I encourage you to shop at Damage… But I’d have to recommend caution when speaking with the owner. 😦

Disclaimer for full disclosure: Prior to the conversation getting strange, the designer was kind enough to gift me a copy of the outfit in white and the jewelry to match, but I liked it enough that I purchased a copy in another color as well. I was already feeling uncomfortable enough that I made sure to purchase a copy of everything I was gifted, so there wouldn’t be any sense of obligation or debt.

Featured Outfit Details:
Price: 299L
Pieces: 6 Clothing Layer pieces, 3 prims: 2 versions of the nipple spiders (one for smaller breasts/cleavage, the other for larger bustlines) and 1 pelvis spider
Availability: The Web Lingerie outfit is offered in three color options: Silver Sheer, Silver & White, and Black Titanium.

Ratings:
Detailing: B-. There’s just way too much distortion in the breast area; no clarity of detail. But the design concept itself is unique and nifty, which is why I went ahead and blogged it.
Prim Attachments?: Spiders for the nipples and crotch. (Ok, how often do you read THAT!?)
Resizing Scripts?: None.
Tattoo Friendly?: No – to wear the full outfit, you’ve got items on underwear/undershirt, shirt, and pants. No room for a tattoo or skin oil, unless it’s on a Viewer 2 tattoo layer.
Curvy Girl Friendly?: No.
Multi-purpose pieces?: The full ensemble is a cute costume that could easily be accessorized into a Drow Princess/Priestess outfit…
Sim Rating?: Threlkeld is rated Mature.

Bentham Forest

And Yet More Notes: On my first visit to Bentham Forest, within seconds of arriving in the sim and setting off to explore, I stumbled into a GIANT FREAKING SPIDER. (I’m an arachnophobe.) *breathe* Ok. Well. That would be perfect for this outfit, then, even if my skin would be crawling the whole time. I can do it. Upon returning to the sim to do the shoot, I spent over an hour and a half searching the place to find the creepy critter. Couldn’t find it. Rodeejah from SLU was kind enough to portal in to try and help me. So thank you, Rodeejah, for your help! (As it turned out, the spider was an avatar – the group bot for the area – and when I returned, it was underneath the sim surface and not accessible for the shoot. Which I can’t really say I’m too broken up about.)

Romana in Rio

...

Romana: View 2
I was thrilled to be offered this outfit to share with ya’ll; it’s the new Dollarbie by Seldom Blue. It was created in celebration of the opening of the Seldom Blue / Eternity Brides mini-shop at Oceane’s Body Boutique, and it’s called Romana. Since I’ve only ever been to the main store, I didn’t know that Seldom Blue offers a unique Dollarbie at each of the branch locations. Romana is exclusive to this location. (Take a look at the back wall of the shop to see other outfits exclusive to this location – the sheer white on black polka-dot bra and panty is adorable!)

While IndigoBlue describes it as having Roman influences, I was feeling a Rio De Janiero at Carnivale sort of vibe. I really like the softness of the prim skirt and sleeves. They have a great shape and color to them. The soft palette of colors used in Romana is delightful – almost like a mother-of-pearl hue. I do wish there was a little bit more coverage at the crotch of the panties – they’re a bit skimpy and come to a point a little higher than I would prefer.

Featured Outfit Details:
Price: 1L Dollarbie
Pieces: 11 + notecard + landmark + texture

Ratings:
Detailing: B+
Prim Attachments?: Yes: Sleeves and skirt
Resizing Scripts?: No
Tattoo Friendly?: Yes – each piece is offered on multiple layers
Curvy Girl Friendly?: Mostly – the pearl detailing lost a little clarity over my girls.

Little She-Devil

Naeve modeling Belial by Blacklace

SummoningKneeling

By Naeve Rossini

BlackLace unveiled the Belial: Red Leather Devil Costume at their
Halloween line launch show at the Runway Cafe on 10 October. I was teased with it in the announcement notecard and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. What can I say? I put this on a week and a half before Halloween and I’ve been wearing it ever since!

I’ve loved BlackLace’s products ever since the first time I set foot in their store and every time I go back, there’s something new to fall in love with. Belial is no exception and it honours their high standard of quality.

The lingerie is a saucy leather strap affair, practically a harness-turned-teddy by the addition of some of the best sheer fabric texturing I’ve seen. While it’s naughty enough to skirt the edge of fetish, it still retains the mystique of lingerie in a perfect balance.

Although the extra parts were included to complete the outfit, I never expect extras to measure up as well as products where the designer specializes in, say, horns or boots. The ones provided were decent, but were ultimately supplanted by products from Illusions and Bax Coen, respectively. The wings were pretty good and I opted not to search for alternatives.

What’s “Just Right”: The whole combo just works together. Even with the included horns and boots, it looks unified with each piece complementing the others. It manages to make someone terminally saccharine in appearance look even mildly sultry, so kudos to BlackLace on that! My favourite part of the whole outfit is the sheer textures in the teddy and the stockings. The highlights and shadows and hints of red are just right.

What Could Use Improvement: Speaking directly to the lingerie, I would have liked to see leather straps that weren’t quite as glossy. The effect seemed a little less realistic to me, though the complaint is really like quibbling over whether one brand of caviar is better than another. I would have liked to see some kind of boning in the teddy to match the rear garter straps; they just seem structurally odd where they are currently placed.

Featured Outfit Details:
Featured Outfit: Belial Red Leather Devil Costume by BlackLace (In World, SL Marketplace); alas, there is only one colour available only in-world
Price: $450
Pieces: 26; 10 clothing, 16 prim, plus 7 non-clothing objects

Ratings:
Detailing: A- Fabulous job altogether, extra impressed with the highlights and shadows on the sheer parts, but the leather straps could stand to have slightly improved textures to give it a more realistic appearance
Prim Attachments: Wings, Horns (not shown), Pendant, Bangles, Charm Bracelets (not shown), Boots (not shown)
Resizing Scripts: There are resizer scripts in all of the prim attachments except the pendant
Permissions: No Copy, No Modify, Transfer; the prims (except boots) have limited Modify permissions, although they appear to be No Modify due to the scripts’ permissions
Tattoo Friendly: Yes; you just need to be careful which layers you select as some will overlap with others and you’ll end up with lighter/darker sections of sheer fabric
Curvy Girl Friendly: Yes
Sim Rating: PG

Jade Angel

Jade by Angel Dessous, Modeled by Elle Aima

Pondering Love Letters

Front & Back

Jewelry Detail Close-Up

Shoe Fetish Peeping Tom
Angel Dessous is well known in the SL lingerie world; the designs are soft, beautiful and have very classic lines. When I was chatting with my friend Elle about modeling for us, I asked her what type of outfit she’d like to wear. “Something innocent.. but not!” she replied. A real girlie-girl, she had no interest in leather or latex; she wanted sexy, sensual and romantic. So the choice was simple; I brought her to Angel Dessous. “Oh, I like this!” she said, shortly after the shop rezzed. “Which outfit?” I asked. “All of them!” she answered. After prowling through both floors of the lingerie area, we settled on this delicious little number: Jade. (It comes in Red, White, and Black – but sadly, not in jade green, which would have been fitting, given the name.)

What’s “Just Right”: I love the lace detailing combined with the sheer mesh of this outfit. It adds a lovely touch that is undeniably feminine. The wide band at the stocking is great – and I love that they included the realism of the upward-tug on the fabric where it attaches to the garter. The triple cord on the strap on the back of the chemise is an intriguing touch. I also appreciate that there are two versions of the corset included (both on Jacket layer) that provide two different options for modesty/coverage – one with solid cups and one with sheer cups. (The names, however, are not very illustrative of which is which.)

What Could Use Improvement: I would have liked a touch more shading work on the panties and bra – it appeared a smidge flat. There could also be more detail on the clips on the garterbelt. Not having the panties available on the pants layer was disappointing.

Other things to note: Angel Dessous also offers a wide range of fashions, including swimwear, dresses, separates, etc. They also have an “outlet” store in which older collections are offered “at least 50% off” the original price.

Ratings:
Detailing: A- The lack of detail on the garterbelt and panty made for a slight deduction.
Prim Attachments?: Yes – a sheer skirt
Resizing Scripts?: None
Tattoo Friendly?: No — the panties are only available on the underwear layer.
Curvy Girl Friendly?: Yes – the placement of the lace kept it off the areas of greatest distortion over curves.. smart and well done.

Sim Rating?: Angel Blue Sky is rated Mature

Vox do You Think?

Vox, by Hugo Designs GUEST REVIEW!!
By Naeve Rossini

I found out about Hugo’s Design from a forum thread about BDSM style. I was not at all prepared for the visual orgy when I teleported into the store. The store is wonderfully laid out with excellent use of posters… they were large and suggestive, with very creative mixing and matching of outfits that showed the versatility of the entire line of products.

The store itself is laid out brightly and easy to navigate, which made shopping a breeze, especially for those of us that like to cam around, rather than walk.

The prices are high, there’s no denying it, and there are no fatpacks. This outfit happens to be one of Hugo’s priciest ones, but a closer look at the textures and detailing will reveal the value of the high sticker. You get what you pay for.

The detailing is phenomenal! It’s particularly evident on the lace and patterned ones, like the pair that Sabella and I are wearing, but you can find the attention to detail in the simpler designs as well. There’s a subtlety to it that elicits the shape of a woman when you look at it. Our shapes are already curvy, but these outfits make us “fill out” in the best way possible.*

For those who like more teasing variations, the outfit can be worn without the bra and/or without the panties. Those of you with “ass men” (or women) in your lives will really appreciate the glorious emphasis of your butt with the way the garters and t-back frame it.

For that edgier, fetishy look, Hugo’s Design is a must see. Bring your pocket book.

… and a napkin.

What’s “Just Right”: A lot of latex designers will just work on the shine of their garments and put just a token effort in other detailing, but Hugo’s designer Erik Hugo has done a fantastic job with incredibly intricate details on this outfit, in addition to his distinctive glossy look. Take a close look. It’s absolutely stunning and really complements feminine curves.* There’s a fullness to the highlights and shading that makes the outfit pop out three-dimensionally without the glasses.

What Could Use Improvement: My wish list is short for this outfit. I’d love to see the bra and corset pieces available on all top layers and in combination with each other. Right now, you can do body oil or tattoos on top, but you couldn’t do both and remain modest. By comparison, the bottoms are as fully tattoo and body oil compatible as you can get. Speaking of bottoms, it would be nice to have a little more coverage in the back for the panties. A little wedge of fabric there would be a more playful hint than the string that’s there now. Fatpacks would be the death of me, but it’d be a very pleasant death.
